He was a 14-year-old blue Merle Australian Shepherd. At some point in his life someone named him “Gino.” On Monday June 22, workers found him in the Contra Costa Water District Canal at Walnut Ave near Oak Grove in Walnut Creek. While retrieving the remains, the workers noticed that the dog’s rear legs were bound with a shoelace.
The manner of Gino’s death is now being investigated as a cruelty case by Contra Costa County Animal Services. Anyone with relevant information on this criminal incident is asked to contact the agency at 925-335-8373.
Awful. People who abuse animals should be publicly caned.
