Fans of the financially imperiled Rheem Theatre reacted with hope to a short statement issued by theatre management and posted on their website Wednesday.
Theatre managers Zemrak Pirkle, which had previously hinted at closure of the old movie house by the end of June, said they had been given a 60 day reprieve of sorts so that interested parties within the community could complete formation of a non-profit foundation dedicated to the theatre’s salvation.
Specifics were not disclosed but management has been meeting with interested parties since they sent a ripple through town by announcing the possibility of imminent closure on the theatre marquee earlier this month.
