Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD) firefighters responded to two early-morning vegetation fires in Moraga Wednesday, and possibly a third on St. Mary’s Road and Carter Drive.
In a release issued by the district, fire officials said the first fire was reported at 4:02 a.m. on Bollinger Canyon Road. Less than a quarter acre of grass was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
Twelve apparatus with 46 personnel from MOFD, Contra Costa County Fire, and CAL Fire responded to the scene. No firefighter injuries were reported.
At 4:26 a.m., a second fire was reported on Alta Mesa Drive in Moraga. This fire was also quickly contained by MOFD and Contra Costa County Fire personnel, who responded on mutual aid. The fire was contained to 1.2 acres within about 20 minutes.
Eighteen apparatus with 56 personnel from MOFD, Contra Costa County Fire, and CAL Fire responded to the scene. No firefighter injuries were reported.
Both fires are under investigation, according to MOFD.
NEWS24-680 has been unable to confirm that at least one other fire was reported overnight, the third a small spot fire burning at Saint Mary’s Road and Carter Drive. This blaze, too, was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
