Orinda police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Orinda Shell station at 9 Orinda Way Saturday. The stickup was reported at about 10:35 p.m.
A gunman, preliminarily described as a black male in his late teens, wearing a green “puffy” jacket with the hood pulled up, took an undisclosed amount of money from a station employee. He was reportedly armed with a black pistol, unknown type.
There were no reported injuries. Officers from Moraga and Lafayette and other jurisdictions searched the Orinda BART station and other areas of town. A canine tracking team was also used to aid in the search.
As of this writing no one is believed to be in custody for this crime.
We get those cameras yet???
Weren’t they also robbed a few months ago? Glad no one was hurt.
Surprised this doesn’t happen more frequently. Both those stations (Shell and Chevron) are isolated late at night and with easy freeway access, as well as a nearby BART station, the getaway is very easy to accomplish.
