A crew of thieves suspected of an earlier burglary in which a woman reportedly asked for directions before her male accomplices entered the backyard of the home, cut the phone lines and then smashed a sliding glass door to gain entry was believed to have struck again Monday.

Police said neighbors in the 1100 block of Hilltop Drive of Lafayette grew suspicious when they saw three men fleeing a home on the block, getting into a green mini-van driven by a woman – who then drove them away.

When officers arrived, according to Police Chief Eric Christensen, they found the rear door of the home shattered and a pillowcase with belongings abandoned in the backyard.

It appears the thieves jettisoned their loot when they were spotted by a neighbor.

Police are looking for the mini-van, license number 6VBS445 and four individuals believed to be perpetrating these crimes. No specific description of the suspects was given.
