Call it a Golden Moment, captured on film and a warm and feathery moment for people who appreciate wild things. Brought to the specialists at the Lindsay Wildlife Center in March after she was found – battered after a run-in with a firehouse window – by San Ramon Valley firefighters, this Golden Eagle was released after rehab Friday at Las Trampas Regional Park.
Firefighters from San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Team 34, grinning like kids, are shown beside veterinarian Lana Kroll as she released the three-year-old sub-adult back to the wild.
The firefighters get the credit for recognizing a glorious animal in distress and getting her safely to the Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital and Kroll, and all the other vets and volunteers at Lindsay, get even more credit for doing what they do every day.
