The recent string of residential burglaries effected when the thief or thieves enter the target home through a rear glass door continued Friday when Moraga Police received a report of a burglary alarm from a residence in the 700 block of Crossbrook Drive.
Officers responded to the residence after a neighbor called at approximately 11:30 a.m. and found that it had been burglarized, according to Moraga Police Lt. Jon King. King said that as in other recent break-ins the suspects smashed a rear glass door to enter the residence, this time with a rock. The suspects only took credit cards and a set of car keys before fleeing the scene, King said, possibly after tripping an interior motion alarm.
A perimeter alarm was not activated, police said, because the thief or thieves did not actually open the door they broke to gain entry.
The incident is being investigated by the Moraga Police Department. Anyone with information or who might have seen any suspicious persons in the area of Crossbrook on Friday morning is asked to contact the Moraga Police at 925-888-7050 or 925-284-5010.
Middle of the day. Pretty aggressive.
Is that why the helicopter was circling?
Bold.
So the interior alarm scared them away. Locals or outsiders cruising for a quick hit?
Showing this to my wife who laughed at me when I insisted on motion detectors. She thought door alarms were plenty and actually said, “Why would anyone bother to smash a glass door or window? They’ll just kick in the front door.”
After 30+ years of marriage, it’s nice to finally win an argument.
HA!!!!
It’s all over right now and I’m not so sure that alarms are going to stop it. I’m hoping the worst case scenario doesn’t present itself and a homeowner or even a burglar doesn’t get seriously hurt.
