Walnut Creek police have announced the arrest of a 34-year-old Benicia man investigators allege placed two video recording devices in the restroom of a Walnut Creek Starbucks on two separate occasions – videotaping customers as they used the convenience.
Police said Jacob Walter Turner of Benicia was arrested Thursday after WCPD detectives assisted by Benicia PD served a search warrant at Turner’s residence
on Oxford Dr. in Benicia. Turner was arrested on a warrant charging him with multiple counts of invasion of privacy with a concealed device.
In a release issued by Sgt. Mike McLaughlin, police said employees at the Starbucks at 1152 Locust St. in Walnut Creek reported finding a video recorder that had been secreted in the unisex bathroom of the business between 2:30 and 4 p.m. on Febr. 6. Investigators said the device successfully recorded several unwitting customers using the restroom.
On April 14 Starbucks employees at the same location reported finding another video camera, also in a concealed location in the restroom. Police said the camera recorded customers in the restroom between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Walnut Creek PD officers investigated the incidents and developed evidence they said indicated that Turner was the person who placed the camera.
Walnut Creek detectives are attempting to identify the victims that used the Starbucks restroom during the given timeframes.
Anyone with information should call Det. Gabe Mauro at 943-5881.
They don’t have a Starbucks in Benicia?
I hope he washed his hands.
I mean seriously what’s the thrill there for these guys?
Ewww. That’s almost as creepy as the guy with the blow up doll
I will never understand crimes like this one. Having raised children, I hope to never see someone else’s pee and poop, again, as long as I live. The day each of my children became self-sufficient bathroom users were the happiest days of my life.
