VIDEO: ATM Thieves Lasso Their Target In Walnut Creek

Three men used distraction, a cable, and a pickup truck to lasso and make off with an Automated Teller Machine at a Shell gas station in the 200 block of Ygnacio Valley Road Friday.

Walnut Creek police said the theft occurred at 5:05 a.m. when the trio arrived in a white Ford F-250 or 350 Quad-Cab long bed 4X4 truck. One of the men, seen in a surveillance video wearing a red beanie, appeared to distract the lone clerk while a second man secured a cable to the outdoor ATM.

The truck then pulls the ATM from its mount, the first man dancing a little to avoid the taut cable. The suspects hoisted the ATM into the back of the truck and fled the scene. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Walnut Creek police.

  1. A little more slack in that cable and that thing would have taken him off at the ankles.

  2. Thanks for the video. My guess is that these 2 were too high to remember how that episode of Breaking Bad turned out. It didn’t end well for the ATM cracker.
