The attempted theft of a woman’s purse from an unlocked car at the Countrywood Shopping Center in Walnut Creek got sporty Sunday after the victim’s husband said “uh uh,” gave chase, and battled the suspects for his wife’s purse while half-in, half-out of their vehicle.
Officers responding to the shopping center at 2054 Treat Blvd. in answer to a disturbance in progress call at 7:18 p.m. found the slightly battered husband standing victorious and the female half of the alleged purse-snatching team nearby. The 31-year-old woman was detained at the scene and arrested for conspiracy to commit robbery and probation violation, according to police.
A search was launched for her alleged partner, who had discarded the purse before fleeing east on foot on Treat Blvd., apparently with money he’d managed to extricate before police arrived.
Officers reportedly found Charles Farmer, 43, hiding approximately two blocks from the robbery. He was arrested for conspiracy to commit robbery, probation violation, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of burglary tools. The woman was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility while Farmer was taken to John Muir Medical Center for treatment of injuries suffered during his alleged tug-of-war with his victim’s husband.
The husband suffered a minor injury which did not require medical attention, according to police.
“I didn’t do nothing!”
I’d call this one a win. Wife gets her purse back. Thief catches a beating and has one of the funniest mug shots taken of all time posted to the internet. Bad guys in custody and husband probably got a BIG reward from the wife that night for being the hero!!
It would be fun to start a caption contest for the mug shot but its too easy – like shooting fish in a barrel.
And hopefully they impound the crooks car if it isn’t stolen. Sell it for charity.
priceless!
The pic of that dude is too funny!
Why would Louis C.K. need to steal a purse? And is he a priest now? Confusing.
