SAN RAMON: Butane, Marijuana Found At Alleged Hash Oil Site; One Arrested

The periodic scourge of door-to-door solicitors continues.

One man has been arrested in connection with the alleged operation of a hash oil extraction site at a home in San Ramon, according to police. A similar operation in Walnut Creek attracted attention when the lab exploded and burned last year, seriously injuring two alleged operators.

Acting on a tip of a possible marijuana grow at that location, police went to a home on Henry Lane at 11 a.m. Tuesday and – after conducting a probation search – found butane and marijuana in an in-law unit of the home, investigators said. One man, Ahmad Wais Sulaiman, 31, of San Ramon was arrested on felony charges of Cultivation of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana for Sale, Manufacturing and a probation violation. Sulaiman was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility with no bail, according to police.

Officers also located a pressurized canister of suspected butane, the active – highly flammable – ingredient in the extraction of hash oil and the suspected cause of the Walnut Creek blaze, which effectively blew the top off a second story apartment “lab.” Officers vacated the residence and contacted San Ramon Valley Fire, which removed the canister and rendered the residence safe.

Police said their investigation into the operation is ongoing.
