One man was arrested and a number of allegedly stolen items recovered after Lafayette police responded to a call of a man slumped over the wheel of his truck near the Lafayette Park Hotel Monday.
Firefighters responding to assess the welfare of the truck’s driver were surprised to see him abruptly exit the vehicle and walk away from the scene. Police later located him and determined the man to be on probation for thefts in Alameda County. He was detained while a search of his truck was undertaken.
A number of items recovered from the truck appeared to have been taken from local garages and contractors, police said, including at least one bucket of tools bearing a contractor’s name. Police would like to reunite the items with their owners, where possible, so check out our gallery for pictures of the recovered items.
A check of the truck’s registration determined that it had also been stolen from unincorporated Walnut Creek overnight. It was returned to its owner after processing.
Police are also asking anyone who might have seen the truck shown above in your neighborhood Monday morning to give them a call at 925 284-5010.
