A meeting between a man hoping to sell his iPhone 6 Plus and a would-be buyer went wrong in downtown Lafayette Tuesday after the buyer produced a gun and made off with the prized, up-sized phone.
The robbery was reported at 12:14 p.m. after the pair met at 960 Moraga Road and the gun was produced. The suspect, described as a mixed race Hispanic and Asian male between 25 and 30-years-old, brandished a black semiautomatic pistol and demanded the phone from the seller, whom he’d contacted via Craigslist. The phone bandit was last seen driving away in an older, Ford or Chevy SUV, dark blue in color.
A car of that general description was stopped within minutes of the robbery on Highway 24 at Fish Ranch Road but the man driving was not who police were looking for.
The victim was not injured during the robbery.
