The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed 20 felony charges of sexual impropriety with minors against the 27-year-old head wrestling coach at California High School in San Ramon.

Kevin Lopez, 27, of San Ramon remains in custody after his arrest last week. His bail has been set at $2,125,000, according to San Ramon police investigators. On Friday, prosecutors charged Lopez with 13 counts of lewd act on a male child age 14 to 15; two counts of arranging to meet a minor with the purpose of engaging in lewd and lascivious behavior; one count of using a minor for non-commercial sex acts; two counts of distributing/exhibiting lewd matter to a minor; one count of contacting a minor for purpose of engaging in lewd and lascivious behavior, and one count of lewd act upon a child under age 14.

Lopez was arrested after officers served a search warrant at Lopez’ home after an allegation surfaced of an alleged relationship with a child more than 10 years his junior. Both the San Ramon Valley Unified School District and officials at New Life Church, where Lopez worked, are reportedly cooperating with police. It was not known if the alleged victim in the case was connected in any way to Cal High or the New Life Church, which has venues in both San Ramon and Alamo.

Lopez was hired at California High School in 2005, serving as an assistant coach until his promotion to head coach in 2012, school district officials confirmed. His arrest was the second to rock the San Ramon Valley in recent weeks, with Diablo Vista Middle School math teacher Mitchell Wolf, 58, arrested for aggravated possession of child pornography Aug. 22.
