Coroner’s deputies are hoping toxicological tests will tell them why a 60-year-old Alamo man’s car left Stone Valley Road Sunday. Michael Sevenau died after his 2000 Jaguar crashed and caught fire.
Sevenau was trapped in the car and perished when it caught fire shortly after it came to rest at 12:32 a.m. Sunday. Damage done by the fire made it impossible to determine if Sevenau was using his seatbelt or if something prompted the crash.
Investigators believe the Jaguar was eastbound on Stone Valley Road, traveled into the oncoming westbound lane, drifted off the north road edge and collided with a series of mail boxes. The Jaguar spun around, broke through a wooden fence, traveled down the dirt/grass embankment and came to rest against a tree – where it caught fire.
