Walnut Creek police have arrested two Pittsburg youths in connection with the baseball bat robbery of a woman confronted as she was walking on Olympic Boulevard the morning of May 9.

On that day a trio of youths, described as Hispanic males in their teens or early twenties, were in a white Ford F150 pickup truck when they confronted the victim as she was walking at 10:50 a.m. in the 1500 block of Olympic. One of the trio jumped from the truck, allegedly brandished a baseball bat and grabbed the woman’s purse before running into the Plaza Escuela East parking garage and jumping back into the truck where two other males were waiting.

The woman was not injured.

On May 14, detectives from the Walnut Creek – with Pittsburg police assisting – served two search warrants in Pittsburg related to the robbery. Two 17-year-old juveniles were arrested in connection with the case. Both were booked into Juvenile Hall. One was arrested for felony grand theft from a person and conspiracy while the second was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon and grand theft from a person, police said.

Investigators credited the descriptions given by witnesses with leading them to the suspects but would like to speak with a delivery truck driver in the area at the time of the theft. Police are asking that person to contact them at (925) 943-5844.
