A leaking water pipe on a beautiful Moraga day gave hundreds of students at Campolindo High School an unexpected – but generally well received – “water break” Tuesday.
School officials, several of whom declined to give their names for some reason, said the problem was discovered late Tuesday morning, with school officials ultimately deciding it was better to release kids from the afternoon sessions rather than keep them on campus.
One school official said the problem had been identified and corrected by noon, but that the kids had already been released and that things would be “back to normal” on Wednesday.
Campolindo has approximately 1,200 kids attending. It is not known how many of that number or if all of the student body had been released. News24-680 readers and parents kidded about a resultant uptick in business for downtown merchants as hundreds of hungry kids descended on the local Burger King, Nations, Bianca’s and Subway stores.
