Walnut Creek’s first International Guitar Festival and Competition features hundreds of guitar players from around the world in exquisite concerts, adult and youth competitions for cash prizes and performance opportunities, master classes, workshops, lectures and more.
The guitar-playing and loving public is invited to perform with the Guitar Orchestra, participate in intimate master classes, and view the competitions and amazing concerts.
Many guitar maestros including England’s highly acclaimed VIDA Guitar Quartet, and East Berlin’s Eva Beneke, an internationally acclaimed soloist, chamber musician, teacher and arranger. Both VIDA Guitar Quarter and Eva Beneke will teach master classes.
A concert featuring VIDA Guitar Quartet is scheduled 7:15 p.m., Wed., April 9, and a concert featuring Eva Beneke is scheduled 7:15 p.m., Thurs., Apirl 10. Both concert will take place at the Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek.
A concert featuring Classical Guitar Orchestra and Adult Classical Guitar Competition Finalists is scheduled 7:30 p.m., Fri., April 11 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1924 Trinity Ave., Walnut Creek.
The competition finals for youth are scheduled 1 p.m., Fri., April 11, also at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Admission for single events is $25 at the door. A Festival Pass, good for all events, is $149 until April 8; Festival Pass increases to $169 on April 9. Festival pass holders may participate in a guitar orchestra event at no extra charge.
