Danville, CA, Arts, Young@Art does quilts.

Seven “ARTful Women” are coming to Danville’s Village Theatre Art Gallery and the community is invited to a reception opening their exhibit.

The reception will open “ARTful Women: 7 Voices in Fabric Art and is scheduled 5 – 8 p.m., Fri., March 7 at the Village Theatre Art Gallery 233 Front St., Danville.

The pieces created by ARTful Women are unique — minimally or multi layered, stitched, painted, dyed, stamped, or embellished in a myriad of ways. In color, they are subtle or bright; subjects are literal or abstract, each an expression of the diverse styles and individual methods.

Their hope is to increase awareness about fabric as a legitimate and fine art medium. As a group, they push themselves and each other to expand their creative limits. For more information visit the group’s blog at www.artful-women.blogspot.com which contains background information and a photo gallery of artwork.

A separate Art Chat with several of the featured artists will be held on March 19 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All events are free and open to the community.

For information about this exhibition, please contact Visual Arts Coordinator, Amy Miller at amiller@danville.ca.gov or (925) 314-3460.
