A Richmond man is in custody on false imprisonment, attempted kidnapping and assault charges after a woman he allegedly assaulted in Wildcat Canyon Regional Park Friday identified him for police.
East Bay Regional Park police confirmed the arrest of Julio Rodriguez, 30, who investigators said attempted to assault a woman in the park on Friday. Officers had been on the lookout for Rodriguez after the victim of the assault described the man she said attempted to drag her into a wooded area before she fought him off. Rodriguez was taken into custody after he was spotted in the park on Monday. He was later identified in a photo lineup by his alleged victim.
Police said Rodriguez was arrested in the park several weeks ago on an unrelated incident. He was arrested without incident and taken to County Jail in Martinez, according to police. Anyone with information about Saturday’s assault is asked to contact East Bay Regional Park police at (510) 881-1833.
