Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Diablo Ballet with a night of special performances, a gala, film retrospective, and more. The performances begin at 6:30 p..m., Thurs., March 6 at the Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek. The Gala reception and dinner will follow at nearby Scott’s Garden, 1333 N. California Blvd., Walnut Creek.
The special evening is par to the City of Walnut Creek’s 100th Anniversary Celebrations program. Performances include the company’s premier of Eugene Loring’s masterpiece, Sweetheart Pas de Deux from “Billy the Kid.” Also on the program is Val Caniparoli’s “Lady of the Camellias” Act 1 Pas de Deux and George Balanchine’s “Who Cares?” A special addition to the evening is a new work by acclaimed company dancer/Resident Choreographer Robert Dekkers, set to an original commissioned score by the celebrated Samuel Carl Adams, son of renowned composer John Adams. A film retrospective will be an integral part of the performance, featuring surprises by alumni dancers.
Prices start at $52 per person for the Lesher Center performances and $85 per person for the gala reception and dinner.
