It’s that pants-unbuckling time of year that sends turkeys running for the hills.
Most Americans have their food and drink favorites that are part of their season’s tradition, but many are also embracing new traditions aimed at making Thanksgiving guilt-free… or at least guilt-reduced.
Here in The Numbers many roll out of bed early and head into Walnut Creek for the annual Turkey Trot. Those interested in a pre-feast 5 or 10K run can still register on race day beginning at 6:30 a.m., at Civic Park, 1375 Civic Dr., Walnut Creek. The 5 and 10K races start at 8 a.m. There are also events for the kids that begin at 10 a.m. The race-day entry fee for the 5 and 10K races are $43 for adults and $23 for ages 17 and under. The fee for the Kids Fun Run is $16, for ages 12 and under. Proceed benefit local charities.

It’s a bit outside The Numbers, but those more aquatically inclined can start their Thanksgiving with a swim workout 10 a.m. – noon, at King Pool, 1700 Hopkins St., Berkeley. The fee is $6 and proceeds benefit the Barracudas Swim Team.
