Walnut Creek police are asking the public to contact them with any information they may have on a brazen thief who stole an elderly woman’s purse outside the Macy’s store Thursday.

The unidentified woman, whose age was not given, was walking to her car in the lower level of the Macy’s Women’s parking garage in Broadway Plaza at 9:15 p.m. when a man approached her and grabbed her purse, knocking her to the ground. Police said the woman suffered minor injuries in the fall but watched the man jump into a waiting gray 4-door sedan with another man behind the wheel. The car left the parking structure and turned south on Newell Ave., according to police.

The suspect is described only as a “possibly” white male adult in his 20’s, last seen wearing a white beanie.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Walnut Creek Police Detective Bill Jeha, at (925) 256-3518.
