Fire caused $200,000 in damage to an Orinda home early Sunday morning despite a heavy response from area firefighters. Five engine companies turned out to battle the 1:01 a.m. blaze.

Battalion Chief Jerry Lee said everyone was out of the home at 60 Southwood Drive by the time firefighters arrived, and that the blaze was under control in about a half hour – but by that time extensive damage had been done.

There were no reported injuries, Lee said, and the occupants of the home were sheltering with friends while repairs to their residence could be made.
