A Funeral Mass for longtime Lamorinda resident Mary Ann Thomason will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, at Saint Anne Church in Rossmoor.
Local antiquers may remember Mrs. Thomason from her days with the The Brown Avenue Antique Collective in Lafayette, where she was a partner.
Born in 1919 to John L. MacDonald and Agnes Sunwall MacDonald in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Thomason moved with her family moved to Southern California and then Oakland where she graduated from Holy Names College in 1940. She later taught at schools in Oakland and Berkeley and married H. Allan Thomason, a Stanford graduate, who preceded her in death.
The couple enjoyed a rich life, filled with travel and fine things. When the couple moved to Lafayette Mrs. Thomason indulged her passion for antiques and joined The Brown Avenue Antique Collective. Local collectors remember her enthusiastic descriptions of the most inconsequential objects, her passion for old things contagious.
Mrs. Thomason leaves behind her cousins – Mrs. Bett Sunwall Walton of Huntington Beach and Dr. James Sunwall, author.
Burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward following her Funeral Mass.
