Moraga residents know Bianca’s Deli as a place for a great sandwich. Workers at the popular local deli, however, are feeling a little exposed after a car has pushed through the walls and sent everyone running for car for the second time in as many years.
Fans of the deli may remember how the owner powered her car through the business’s brick wall while trying to park in a stall on the deli’s western exposure one sunny afternoon last year. On Monday, lightning cracked again when a 90-year-old woman attempting to park her Honda in virtually the same location inadvertently jumped the curb, sending the car through the building and pushing appliances into two employees unable to get out of the way in time.
Police and fire turned up shortly after the mishap was reported at 4:25 p.m., much to the driver’s chagrin, and determined that the driver was unhurt but that the two employees had suffered minor injuries and required attention. They were taken to Highland General Hospital in Oakland for observation but are said to be doing well.
Meanwhile, Bianca’s owners are left to wonder if the third time really is the charm, and News24-680 is left to wonder if they still have the name of the mason who re-built their brick walls the last time their walls came tumbling down.
