Applications are being accepted for a vacancy on the Design Review Commission (DRC). The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6.
The Design Review Commission reviews and approves the design components of development applications, prepares, adopts and recommends to the Planning Commission and City Council standards and policies for the design of buildings, and performs such other duties as may be required by the City Council.
The Commission meets twice per month on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Occasionally it may be necessary to hold a special meeting.
This is a five-member volunteer commission appointed by the Walnut Creek City Council. Two members must be residents of the City and three members must be registered architects, one of whom must be a registered landscape architect. The architects need not be residents of the City.
The current opening on the Design Review Commission is to fill an unexpired term ending in March 4, 2014. The newly appointed Commissioner will then be eligible for a subsequent appointment to a first full term of four years.
The ideal candidate will be a registered architect (a registered architect need not live in Walnut Creek). Walnut Creek residents who are registered to vote in Walnut Creek will also be considered.
Applications are available on the City’s website at www.walnut-creek.org; at the City Clerk’s Office, 1666 N. Main Street; by phone (925) 943-5818; and via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Completed applications and the supplemental questionnaire must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6. The City Council will select applicants for interview on the evening of September 17.
