OBITUARY: David Scott Wallace

August 9, 1963 – March 23, 2013

Orindan David Scott Wallace died March 23, 2013 in Walnut Creek, surrounded by his family and wrapped in the support of his many friends. He was 49.

Mr. Wallace grew up in Stockton, California, graduating from Amos Alonso Stagg High School in 1981. He attended school in the Bay Area, graduating with honors from University of San Francisco in 1985 and Hastings College of the Law in 1988. After living in San Francisco and Oakland, he eventually settled in Orinda in 2000.

Although his career as an attorney included a partnership at Shapiro, Buchman, Provine and Patton in Walnut Creek and serving as corporate counsel for companies such as Syndero, Inc. in both San Francisco and Los Angeles, Mr. Wallace’s first priority was always his family and his life revolved around them.

He coached little league, volunteered and served as a leader in both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and supported his sons on their journey toward the accomplishment of Eagle Scout. He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman with great stamina, enjoying cycling, hiking, and camping with friends and family. He also loved music, movies, literature, cheering for his local sports teams, and remaining abreast of current events, especially politics.

Mr. Wallace leaves his wife of 20 years, Marta, and their sons, Trevor and James, his parents, Frank and Carolyn Wallace of Stockton, California, his sister, Jennifer Wallace Canobbio (Vincent), nephew and niece, Nicholas and Sophia, of Santa Cruz, California and parents-in-law, Kay and William Lawson, of Berkeley.

A memorial celebration of David’s life will be held at University of San Francisco’s Lone Mountain, 2800 Turk Street, June 15, 2013, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Boy Scout Troop 57 of Orinda, Heifer International, or a charity of choice are appreciated.
