Listen to owls, poorwills and more on three Mount Diablo evening hikes sith Mount Diablo Interpretive Association’s Denise Wite Saturdays, June 22 and 29, and July 13, 7 – 9 p.m. The hikes start at the Mitchell Canyon Visitors Center, 96 Mitchell Canyon Rd., Clayton. The fee is $6 per car.
The two hour, three mile round trip hike focuses on the wildlife that wakes up as the sun sets. At twilight, hikers will listen for the nocturnal Common Poorwill and local owls; who knows what they’ll hear and find on the return hike in the dark! Be sure to bring flashlight, binoculars and water.
