Whether you think it smart forward thinking or, more malevolently, a portent of a sweeping government conspiracy, local government is attempting to gauge your opinion of Plan Bay Area – and Orindans will have a chance to express themselves on Monday.
The plan, aimed at addressing the increases in population predicted to come to Lamorinda and elsewhere in the Bay Area, has been identified with what some believe is a United Nations conspiracy to remove personal freedoms and choice and force a government directive to subjugate the people. This belief, tied with the “take-it-or-leave-it” manner of the agencies driving the plan, has prompted criticism and fueled debate over its intentions.
This, as you might expect, has made for some pretty interesting public meetings on the topic. The City of Orinda, under pressure to draft a comment letter on One Bay Area for submission to the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) by a May 16 deadline, has called a special meeting on the topic for Monday, May 13, at 7 p.m. at the Orinda Library, 26 Orinda Way.
